OCTELA has a long history of advocacy on behalf of literacy teachers and learners in Ohio. This organization has worked to communicate to a wide audience what we know about how children and adolescents read and write. We encourage our members to use their voices not only in their classrooms, but in their communities to educate and raise awareness of events that may impact laws concerning literacy education. To that end, one of our main avenues of dissemination is a listserv operated by OCTELA. This listserv provides subscribers with updates about twice a month.
