As English language educators, OCTELA encourages and applauds its membership in their publishing efforts whether individually through the personal friendships created as a member, or through the organization's events and collateral materials.

The Spring and Fall Conferences provide stimulating interaction with other professionals and published authors. Several awards given by the organization each year recognize contributions in the fields of teaching and writing. Information on the OCTELA web site puts educators in touch not only with the organization, but also with tools that contribute to personal contacts, timely information, and pertinent research that inspire a person to write creatively or scholarly.

OCTELA also publishes the research, commentary, prose, and poetry of its membership in three periodicals. The Ohio Journal of English Language Arts (OJELA), published twice a year features editorial columns, articles, essays, occasional poetry, book reviews and classroom ideas pertaining to all aspects of language arts learning and teaching. Ohio Teachers Write is a literary magazine published annually by OCTELA and devoted to the poetry and prose of Ohio teachers in all fields. Additionally, the OCTELA Newsletter is published twice a year. Its articles cover events and topics of interest to OCTELA members and English language arts educators at large.
